St Mirren 1 – 0 Motherwell

St Mirren played host to Motherwell in the Viaplay Cup with a place in the Quarter Finals at stake.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable game made all the better by the only goal of the game from Caolan Boyd-Munce, a blistering shot from outside the box that hit the roof of the Motherwell net. I wouldn’t be surprised if this shot was named goal of the cup as I doubt there will be a better goal scored in the entire competition.

St Mirren went on to hit the bar from a Baccus shot before the 1st half finished with St Mirren 1 goal to the good.

The second half saw Motherwell try to claw their way back into the game and Theo Bair must have thought he was going to equalize when his goal bound shot was tipped over the bar by Saint’s keeper Zach Hemming.

St Mirren had a number of chances to put the game beyond Motherwell.

Toyosi Olusanya had a shot saved by Motherwell Keeper Liam Kelly and then had a shot hit the post. The game finished St Mirren 1 – 0 Motherwell and St Mirren make a quick return to Edinburgh to play Hibernian in the Quarter Finals, having already defeated the Edinburgh side on the opening day of the season.
